GO SOAK YOUR TOOTHBRUSH- If you're under the weather, always soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide before using it. It doesn't do much good to knock out the "BUGS" and then turn around and reintroduce them into your system with a contaminated toothbrush.
DRINK PURIFIED WATER- Everyone should drink at least 8, 8 oz glasses of purified water per day. If you consume any medication on a regular bases you should drink up to 8, 10 oz glasses of water a day to flush the medication through your system, and to flush your kidneys so they are moving the toxins out of the body.
PROMOTE SINUS AND UPPER RESPIRATORY HEALTH - Keep your sinuses healthy with Sinupret +. This blend of common herbs and wildflowers—balanced in extremely precise ratios—naturally supports your body's normal inflammatory response and mucus production. You'll breathe more easily, and feel more comfortable, thanks to healthy, well-drained sinuses, well-ventilated nasal passages, and normal nasal tissues.
THE NATURAL "ANTIBIOTIC" IN GRAPEFRUIT SEEDS - Whenever I travel, whether abroad or close to home, I always take along a bottle of grapefruit seed extract called NutriBiotic's "Traveler's Friend." Grapefruit seed extract is a powerful, natural, all-around antimicrobial product that is effective at killing dozens of varieties of bacteria, fungi, yeast, and other harmful organisms. When diluted and applied correctly, it has a multitude of external and internal uses. You can find this in health food stores or order directly from NutriBiotic (800-225-4345 or www.nutribiotic.com).
VITAMIN C: ANTIVIRAL AND ANTIBACTERIAL- A good supply of vitamin C is something you should always have on hand. Antibiotics and compounds that are strictly antibacterial won't work against viruses. Substances like vitamin C and hydrogen peroxide do. In fact, vitamin C fights infections by producing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
During a period of illness, your body will use and tolerate much higher doses of vitamin C than normal, so a daily intake of as much as 20 grams isn't unusual. High doses of vitamin C may be required for days to fight off a serious infection. As your condition improves, the dosage can usually be lowered, but during this time I still recommend keeping the levels right around "bowel tolerance" or the point where your bowel movements become loose. For the most potent C available from nature you can find on Purium health: www.phporder.com/26208 "C From Nature".
LICORICE ROOT: ANOTHER SECRET WEAPON IN THE WAR AGAINST FLU - Dried licorice root is a good nutrient to have on hand, especially during the flu season. Research showed that while glycyrrhizin (the active ingredient in licorice root) had no effect on stopping or slowing the replication of the influenza virus itself, it actually stimulated the production of interferon by the immune system T cells. (Antimicrob Agents Chemother 97;41(3):551-556)
Glycyrrhizin is chemically similar to hormones produced by the adrenal glands. Its structure is responsible for its immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory capabilities and its side effects.
At the first sign of a flu epidemic, drinking a cup of licorice root tea daily for a month or so. This should boost your immune system to help fight off the flu. To be sure you're getting glycyrrhizin, make your own tea from dried licorice root. Add one pound of chopped root to three pints of boiling water and continue to boil until approximately one quart is left. Recommended dosage is one teaspoon of the liquid taken three times daily. Store the remaining liquid in a glass container with a tight lid, in the refrigerator. Dried licorice root can be purchased in larger health food stores or online from Penn Herb Company, Ltd. (800-523-9971 or www.pennherb.com) or Frontier Natural Products Co-op (800-669-3275 or www.frontiercoop.com).
